Midgets win 4th in a row!
The Sunny Acre Farms Midgets extended their winning streak to four games last night with a 4-1 win over Guelph at Alcott. The game didn't start well for the Thunder as the Gryphon's opened the scoring in the first minute as a crazy bounce deflected off a Halton Hills defenseman and behind Thunder net minder Andrew Hrycaj. The Thunder did not let the bad luck bother them as they tied the game two minutes later when Mackenzie Chalmers scored from Nick Molinaro and Mitchel Tickner. Despite outshooting their opponents 32-9 after two periods, inability to score on their opportunities resulted in a 1-1 tie at the intermission.
Halton Hills came out flying in the third scoring three times, first Mike Kri from Jeff Brown, and Sam Gates. Then Molinaro from Matt Hodgins and Gareth Marks finished the scoring with a short handed breakaway goal with a minute left to play. Hrycaj didn't let the bad bounce in the first period bother him as he played well earning his eighth win of the season. The win along with Caledons 5-4 loss to Flamborough leaves The Thunder in Third place heading to the Christmas break with two games remaining.
Thunder assistant coach Kevin Brown as seen in the inset is pleased with the teams play and is looking forward to the upcoming tournament next week in Brampton.
