Tri County Champs!
The Trends/Alltro Minor Midget Thunder completed their sweep of Oakville last night 5-2 at Joshua Creek to claim the Tri-County Championship in three games.
It was Halton Hills eighth win in a row and 41st win of the season, in front of large crowd of enthusiastic Thunder supporters!!
Just as in previous games Oakville struck first scoring on a 2 on 1 less than two minutes into the game. The Ranger lead didn't last long as Halton Hills captain Stu McDonald, who was determined to win, tied the game a minute later with a quick shot blocker side on a surprized Ranger goaltender, from Jack Reid and Silvio Tedesco.

Early in the second The Thunder took the lead, fresh off a 12 hr. plane ride, Nolan Cree went to the net (like a lawn dart) and deflected home a McDonald pass on a quick 2 on 1, then at 7:08 of the second, Zach Booth pinched in from the point and fired a shot at the net that Bryce Hillock tipped and Ethan Valade finished to give Halton Hills a commanding 3-1 lead at the intermission.

As in previous games The Thunder third period was outstanding, holding Oakville to four shots (13 shots over the 3 games) Danny Cannon got a point shot through the screen at the ten minute mark to put the Thunder up by three (from Jack Reid and McDonald), then after Oakville scored to make it a two goal lead, Mcdonald put the game away, scoring into the empty net, from Nick Theim and Justin Leblanc, final score 5-2. McDonald had a four point night 2g2a, and Josh Emmerson came up with some brilliant saves, getting the win and improving his playoff record to 6-2, 2 SO, 1.63gaa.

Congratulations Team!
