Mini Thunder (IP) Overview – 2025 Season

 

Hockey school Orientation Day

Ø  Saturday September 13th, players will be assessed to ensure they are in the correct hockey school session. An email will be sent to all registered players mid August as to what session they are to attend on orientation day.  Please note: Orientation Day will be based on age and alphabetical order as we will be placing the players in the appropriate sessions to start for the hockey school.

**Times/rink will be advised on the haltonhillsminorhockey.com website end of August.

Hockey school Start date:

Ø  Saturday September 27th– if needed, players may still be moved to another time slot after this date.

We need Coaches/Volunteers:

Coaches and Volunteers are needed to run the IP program. If you are interested in volunteering or coaching a Mini Thunder Team, please email Lindsey at [email protected]

Volunteering as a coach, assistant coach, trainer or on ice helper is a great way to get involved in our community while helping young players learn the game of hockey. Halton Hills Minor Hockey reimburses for all online courses and police checks that are required to volunteer.

Ø  Volunteers are needed for the Saturday hockey school

Ø  Coaches, Trainers and Assistant Coaches are needed for Sunday game day.

U5, U6, U7 Hockey School:

·       Hockey School Saturdays, schedule to be advised mid to end of August on the www.haltonhillsminorhockey.com website.

·       The Hockey School sessions are organized based on more “alike” skill level.

·       We will have approx. 3 on ice instructions and we will need the coaches support on ice during their child’s ice time.

U5, U6, U7 Game Day:

·       Players will be placed on a team with a coach based on their age group.

·       Games will be played on Sundays.

·       Pending registration numbers, teams will be either tiered or balanced.

NOTE: If a player is advanced in their age group, pending assessment of the player, as well, the player can move up to the next age group to align with their hockey abilities.

What is included in the Mini Thunder Program:

·       Hockey jersey and socks, Hockey School, Team game day, Team picture

·       Hockey School Orientation date, Sept 13, 2025

·       Hockey School Start date, Saturday Sept 27, 2025, game day to start Sunday Sept 28, 2025

·       Year End Wrap Up * tentative date March 8, 2026
