I am a lifelong hockey lover and player, a middle school teacher, and a dad of two boys. From my earliest years growing up in LaSalle/Windsor, Ontario I’ve been on the ice, and I started coaching hockey in Halton Hills in 2021. Both of my boys are in the Thunder family, and it’s been a joy to share my passion with them, bonding over hockey, getting to watch them grow and develop, and cultivate their own love for the game. Through this experience in Halton Hills, I’ve met a number of tremendous families, made impactful friendships with other parents, and had the opportunity to coach a number of exceptional young players. I enjoy the grind that coaching a rep hockey team brings, and I am excited every time I go to the rink. Having the fortunate opportunity of being around young passionate players who would ‘go through a wall’ for their team, inspires me to continue the journey of challenging myself to be a better coach and person, every day. Go Thunder!

I’m thrilled to be a head coach for the Halton Hills Thunder!
I grew up in Quesnel, B.C., a small town similar to Georgetown, playing all kinds of sports with my friends and cousins. Coincidentally, my minor hockey team was called the Thunder! I then played junior hockey for the Vancouver Giants in the WHL before moving on to play professionally for 12 seasons in the AHL, ECHL, and various leagues across Europe. My playing career took me to places like Newfoundland, Chicago, Alaska, Germany, Italy, and the UK. However, it was my time in Toronto playing for the Marlies that ultimately led me to call Southern Ontario home.
While I’ve always been involved in coaching through summer hockey schools and skill sessions, my official coaching journey began three seasons ago with the U8MD Thunder. Since then, I’ve been an assistant coach every season, supporting the team both on and off the ice, while gaining valuable experience and honing my coaching skills.
My coaching philosophy centres on good habits, effort, attitude, and teamwork. More than just developing hockey players, my goal is to help kids grow into confident, hardworking individuals by instilling the work ethic, character, and resilience that hockey has taught me.
Though my family and I have only lived in Georgetown for about five years, we’ve developed a strong connection with the community and the Halton Hills Minor Hockey Association. I look forward to contributing my experience to this community and HHMH by creating an environment where our players can develop, succeed, and achieve their full potential.

Trevor Brodie - Bio
I am currently an assistant coach for the U10A Thunder team, as well as an assistant coach for the U8 Tier 1 Thunder team.
Prior to my 4 years coaching in Halton, I volunteered for 12 years as an assistant coach with the Guelph Giants, a special needs hockey team. Here I worked with a wide range of ages and skill levels to build hockey skills and knowledge, as well as a love for the game.
For 16 years, I was a golf professional working at the top private and public golf courses in Canada. Throughout this time, I taught over 10,000 lessons to kids and adults in group and individual settings. I independently planned and ran junior clinics, and coached a junior team each year.
I developed a passion for hockey at an early age. Once I was at the rink it was tough to get me off the ice. I’ve played organized hockey for over 35 years, including Junior hockey in Erin. I’ve always been focused on being a lifelong learner and on continuous growth. I am excited for the challenges ahead.

Hockey has been a constant in my life, shaping who I am both on and off the ice. I still remember the early mornings at Meadowvale Four Rinks, where my love for the game first took root, and the long drives through GTHL traffic to chase my hockey dreams. At 15, I transitioned from forward to defense—a challenge that pushed me to grow as a player and solidified my understanding of the game. Battling injuries in my draft year only strengthened my determination, leading me to the QMJHL with the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles, where I led all rookie defensemen in points and set franchise records. One of my toughest lessons came in the playoffs when we lost a hard-fought series to the Val-d’Or Foreurs, led by Brad Marchand and Kris Letang, after being up 3-0 in the series. My journey continued at Western University, where I won the Queen’s Cup, earned Academic All-Canadian honours, and had the incredible experience of competing against the Czech World Junior Team. But beyond all the on-ice moments, hockey gave me something even greater—I met my wife at Western, where she played for the women’s team.
After my playing career, my passion for the game naturally led me to coaching. With over 10+ years of coaching, I’ve worked with players at all levels, from minor hockey to mentoring elite NCAA and NHL athletes at BTNL. Now, through S13 Hockey, the development program my wife and I run together, we focus on helping young athletes build their skills, confidence, and love for the game. I’ve been coached/instructed multiple teams with the Halton Hills Thunder and North Halton Twisters, and I stay actively involved in hockey with both of my kids. Beyond minor hockey, as a teacher, I’ve also coached high school teams to multiple OFSAA championship appearances, reinforcing my belief in player development at all stages.
At the heart of my coaching philosophy is a simple but important goal: to help players develop their skills while fostering a genuine love for the game. I believe that hockey should be challenging, rewarding, and, above all, fun. By building strong relationships with players, tailoring instruction to their individual needs, and encouraging a growth mindset, I hope to create an environment where they can compete, improve, and create lasting memories.
Hockey has given me so much, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to give back. And while my competitive playing days may be behind me, I still love lacing up the skates for pickup games with my wife—a reminder that, no matter the level, hockey is a game meant to be enjoyed.
Andrew Harkness
Andrew Harkness Bio
I am a father of 2 boys who are coming through the Halton Hills Thunder program. I have been around hockey my whole life. I grew up in Quebec playing for my home town and eventually my high school. My father was my coach throughout my early career and gave me a love for the game that I carry through my volunteering for my men’s league hockey to this present day. If you can’t find me coaching my minor hockey team you will find me playing a men’s league hockey game as the passion lives on!
Other noteworthy details about me, I manage high performing teams in my day job and I find a lot of crossover between managing teams at work and managing teams in minor hockey. I pride myself in being transparent, authentic and genuine in my dealings at work and in this volunteer position. I believe myself to be a strong communicator and a passionate leader.
My own volunteering journey started years ago when I was coaching teenage soccer programs in Quebec, but my recent hockey volunteering started again with my youngest son. After receiving some mentorship with more experienced coaches through my older son’s team, I decided to become involved as a volunteer myself in 2021 with the IP program as an assistant coach. The following year I was named head coach of the U10As and most recently I had the honour of coaching the U11As.
My coaching philosophy anchors on the following principles:
1. With younger athletes, my #1 priority is that they love hockey more at the end of the season than when they started. Development gets absorbed much more easily when the kids are chomping at the bit to get back on the ice.
2. We focus the kids in on their controllable assets. Attitude, Concentration, and Effort (ACE). We will teach them skill, we will teach them strategy, all they have to bring is their ACE.
3. I am not in the hockey business, I am in the kids experience and lifelong memories business. The inclusive culture, the life-skills that we teach and the bonds that they form with their team mates will last much longer than the memory of their won loss ratios. Our selection of tournaments, team building activities and opportunities to give back to the community are the core moments we strive for during a season.
Lastly, as for hockey development, our priority is skating, passing, team play and energy/effort. We look to build and re-enforce all of the good habits that will stay with them all the way through their playing career. We also rely heavily on specialized development instructors to teach the technical part of the game. I focus on culture and ACE, and we bring in the experts to teach the fine details of this great game.
Looking forward to seeing everyone on the ice!

I’ve been around hockey my whole life, playing and learning from great coaches and mentors around the game.
I’m a passionate hockey coach with two years of coaching experience, but my journey in the game goes back much further. Before stepping behind the bench, I had the privilege of playing in the Ontario Hockey League, which gave me firsthand knowledge of the game's intensity and intricacies. That experience shaped my coaching style, allowing me to not only teach technical skills but also to instil a love for the game in my players.
Since I started coaching, I’ve been dedicated to developing young athletes both on and off the ice. I emphasize teamwork, discipline, and a strong work ethic, all while fostering a fun and supportive environment. Watching players grow in their skills and confidence is one of the most rewarding aspects of coaching for me, and I’m excited to continue helping players reach their full potential as they chase their dreams in the game.

Martin Lefebvre
Martin Lefebvre Bio
I was born and raised in the West Island of Montreal and played a lot of hockey growing up. My love of the game amplified when I played for my High School, followed by some mediocre Junior C hockey where we all continued to lace up the skates because we simply enjoyed the game. During those years I learned how I liked to be coached, what I responded to the most, and the importance of positive leadership.
I played in competitive men’s leagues throughout my 20’s, prior to moving to Ontario, which continued to foster my understanding of the game. Family life then kicked in and I was away from hockey for several years until my son finally decided he wanted to start playing when he was 11 years old. This brought me back to my favorite sport and has impacted our family life in a positive way. It is amazing how many new, wonderful people we have become friends with since joining Halton Hills Minor Hockey.
During the 2023-2024 season I was the head coach of the U14 BB white team. With a focus on development, learning fundamentals, and sharing our passion of the game we successfully taught our boys to be better teammates and stronger players. Several of the boys from that team moved up to higher levels in the following season.
I work closely with the other coaches to teach the boys resiliency, composure and developing their skills. I am a student of the game that consistently reads and watches videos on best coaching practices, hockey systems, and development of young-adolescent players.
I was honoured to be selected as a head coach for HHMH and look forward to working with others to have a fun, successful, and rewarding season.

This attitude is what guides his coaching philosophy and how he relates to his players, so they know that success is a result of effort and perseverance.

I grew up in Georgetown, Ontario and played competitive hockey my entire childhood until going off to College. I played my hockey as a forward. After minor hockey, I played in various adult recreational leagues in Georgetown, Brampton, Mississauga, Burlington area. I have coached in the Halton Hills Organization for the last 10 years, at the “A” Level for both 2008 and 2011 birth years.
My coaching philosophy is to create a positive environment that focuses on skill development and a lifelong love of hockey. The focus will be largely based on technical skills and individual tactics while incorporating concepts related to team play and strategy. I believe each player responds to different learning styles and it is important to understand how to connect with each player to maximize their development throughout the year. As this is competitive hockey, I also believe there is an element of commitment, hard work and being a good teammate that is expected at this level. Having a strong work ethic and team first mentality is important and will be a focus of our practices and communication to players.
I believe in clear communication with parents throughout the season which lays out the expectations of families and players as well as updates on our coaching priorities and team focus.
