Mike Baer - Bio

I grew up in Georgetown, Ontario and played competitive hockey my entire childhood until going off to College. I played my hockey as a forward. After minor hockey, I played in various adult recreational leagues in Georgetown, Brampton, Mississauga, Burlington area. I have coached in the Halton Hills Organization for the last 10 years, at the “A” Level for both 2008 and 2011 birth years.

My coaching philosophy is to create a positive environment that focuses on skill development and a lifelong love of hockey. The focus will be largely based on technical skills and individual tactics while incorporating concepts related to team play and strategy. I believe each player responds to different learning styles and it is important to understand how to connect with each player to maximize their development throughout the year. As this is competitive hockey, I also believe there is an element of commitment, hard work and being a good teammate that is expected at this level. Having a strong work ethic and team first mentality is important and will be a focus of our practices and communication to players.

I believe in clear communication with parents throughout the season which lays out the expectations of families and players as well as updates on our coaching priorities and team focus.×
