Halton Hills Minor Hockey – Best of the Best Thanksgiving Tournament

October 9-12, 2015

 

 

Tournament Headquarters – Moldmasters Sportsplex – 2nd floor between C and D pad

 

ALL teams must register at tournament headquarters at least one (1) hour before their first game.  If your roster and travel permit have not been received an hour before your first game you will not be eligible to play and will be recorded as a loss.

 

Tournament Rules:

 

This tournament is OMHA sanctioned and will therefore follow OMHA Rules and Regulations governing hockey.  In addition, the following rules will also apply:

 

  1. Referees decisions are final.  There will be no appeal process.
  2. Each team must have a certified coach and trainer on the bench at all times.
  3. A player is allowed to play for only one team during the tournament.
  4. Parents are not to be in dressing room hallways.  Please ask all parents to wait in the Lobby Area to help keep congestion down in the hallways for players and teams.
  5. Any player or Team Official receiving a penalty listed on the game sheet as a GRM (gross misconduct) or MP (Match Penalty) will be automatically suspended from the Tournament.  All game sheets are sent to the OMHA.

 

Game Play:

 

  1. Each team is guaranteed 4 games.
  2. All round robin, quarter finals and semi final games will be played 10-10-12 stop time.      
    There be a 3 minute warm-up for all these games.
  3. There will be no time outs or overtime played in the round robin games. (There will be 1 – 30 second time out per team allowed in semi final games)
  4. All teams must be prepared to play 20 minutes prior to their scheduled games.
  5. Ice will be resurfaced after each game. 
  6. Referees decisions are final.
  7. In the case of a 5 goal lead during the 3rd period, the time clock will run continuous.  Should the goal lead become less than 5 during the 3rd period the game will return to stop time.

 

Advancing past the Round Robin games will be based on the following:

 

In 5 team divisions – 1st and 2nd place teams advance to finals

In 6 team divisions – 1st , 2nd , 3rd and 4th place teams overall will advance to semi’s.  winner of the semi final games advance to Finals.

In 7 team divisions - 1st , 2nd , 3rd and 4th place teams overall will advance to semi’s.  winner of the semi final games advance to Finals.

In 8 team divisions – All teams in Pool A cross over to play All teams in Pool B for quarter final games.  The winner of each quarter final game will play in semi final games with the winners of the 2 semi final games advancing to Finals.

 

 

 

·        To determine round robin placing, points will be awarded as follows:

         Win = 2 points, Tie = 1 point, Loss = 0 points

·        In the event of a 2 way tie at the end of Round Robin play, tie breaker will be as follows:

·        Head to Head

·        Goals for/goals against average

·        Team with fewest goals against (all games)

·        Team with combined most goals (all games)

·        Team with fewest penalty minutes.

 

In the event of a 3-way or more tie, head to head does not count and the tie breaking will begin with goals for/goals against average.

 

Finals 

  1. Referees decisions are final.
  2. All final games will be played 10-10-15 stop time. 
  3. There will be one (1) - 30 second time out per team per game.
  4. In the event of a tie at the end of regulation time there will be one (1) 5-minute Sudden Victory OT      period.  In the event the game is still tied, it will proceed to a 5 player shootout.  Players for the shoot out      are to be decided prior to the game on a sheet provided at the convenor table.  All 5 players will take a       shot.  Once the player has taken his/her shot they will be placed in the penalty box.  If the game is still tied after the 5 player shootout, the coach can choose players from the bench to shoot.  This will now be sudden victory.  All players must continue to the penalty box after their shot.  No player will be allowed to shoot  again until each player has taken a shot and the score remains tied.
  5. At the end of the Final Games, teams are to line up on their blue lines for the Award Ceremony.

 

Discipline:

  • Any Spectator, Player, or Team Official being verbally aggressive or physically aggressive with Referees, Other Players, Team Officials, Tournament Officials, or other Spectators will be asked to leave the Playing Area and possibly the Arena depending on the situation. Police will be called if necessary.
  • Any Player or Team Official receiving a Gross Misconduct (GRM) or Match Penalty (MP) will be automatically suspended from any further Play in the Tournament. There will be no exceptions to this rule.
  • Any Team Official walking across the ice surface before, during, or after their Game will result in a 2 minute Bench Minor. Only exception to this is if there is an injury to one of the Players on the ice. Penalty will be served at the start of the game or if infraction happened after the game penalty will be served at the start of the Team's next game.
  • PLEASE NOTE: Any damage to or a Dressing Room left in a complete mess ie Water/Gatorade bottles all over the floor, tape everywhere, toilets and or sinks plugged and over flowing, Urine in garbage containers or anywhere but the toilet will result in the Team receiving an invoice for the damage and or clean up. The Team's Association will also receive a copy of the bill along with a letter informing them.
  • All Game Sheets are forwarded to the OMHA.
