PLEASE NOTE: TEAMS MUST BE PREPARED TO MOVE UP THE START TIME OF THEIR GAMES BY 30 MINUTES. THERE ARE EXTRA MINUTES BUILT INTO THE SCHEDULE AND A MERCY RULE IS IN EFFECT. TEAMS THAT ARE NOT READY TO START THEIR GAMES ON TIME OR WITHIN THE 30-MINUTE WINDOW MAY FORFEIT SUCH GAMES AT THE DISCRETION OF THE TOURNAMENT COMMITTEE. DUE TO THE NATURE OF OUR SCHEDULING, TIME RESTRICTIONS WILL BE ENFORCED.

 Points:

Points will be awarded 2 points for a win 1 for a tie and 0 for a loss.

TIE BREAKER: Tie-breaking and the determination of the wild card teams in round robin standings will be based, in order, on:

  • The head to head result involving the teams tied (two way ties only).
  • The best ratio of "Goals For/(Goals For + Goals Against)" in all round robin games.
  • The team with the least goals against would advance
  • The team with the most goals scored.
  • The team that scored the first goal in the head-to-head game
  • The team with the lowest number of penalty minutes.
  • A toss of a coin by the tournament Director.

 OVERTIME: 

Semi-final and final games shall be sudden victory overtime. Periods will be 10 minutes. The sudden victory overtime period will be players five (5) on five (5) plus goalies. After the first overtime period, teams will enter in a shoot out, each team will pick 3 shooters and 1 goalie, if still tied after the 3 shooters are finished each team will send 1 shooter in a sudden victory shoot out. ( teams must use different shooter each time until the entire team has shot).  Players will shoot 1 at a time using the same end of the rink.


MERCY RULE:
If, at the beginning of the third period or at any time during the third period, a team is ahead by five or more goals, the clock will revert to running time. If the goal differential is seven goals at any time during the game, then the clock shall revert to running time. If subsequently the margin is reduced to less than five goals (third period) or seven goals (second period), the clock will NOT revert back to stop time. The clock will only revert back to stop time if there is a 2 goal difference.
This mercy rule is in effect for all games including round robin, semi-final and Championship games. PLEASE NOTE: Teams must be prepared to move up their start time if the schedule allows. Teams must be ready to play 30 minutes prior to their scheduled time.

 teams will be allowed 1 time out each

  •  There are no time outs in Round Robin games
  • 1 Timeout per team in Semi Finals games


ADMINISTRATION:

Teams will play a minimum of 4 games.   Due to the nature of some of our divisions, please see the charts below to see how games and playoffs are laid out

Please check your schedule to ensure it is accurate. You are guaranteed three games against three different opponents. In the event of a conflict, please notify the Registrar as soon as possible.

Scheduled Game times are approximate. Your team must be ready to play 30 minutes prior to the scheduled game time. There is a mercy rule, PLUS extra time built into the schedule so you must be ready to play 30 minutes prior to the scheduled game time or run the risk of forfeiture.

No one, other than players, coaches and trainers are allowed in the dressing rooms or the hallway leading to the dressing rooms before and after games. A maximum of five coaches including the trainer are permitted. Suspended players and coaches are not to in the vicinity of the dressing rooms and failure to abide by the rule will result in forfeit of game and a 9-0 win for the opposing team.

Any player/coach receiving a second major penalty WILL be immediately suspended from further play in the tournament.

OMHA rules require league suspensions to be served in the next league scheduled game and these players may participate in the tournament. All tournament suspensions must be served in the tournment.  Suspensions received in the last game of the tournament will be reported back to the home organization.  It is the responsibility of the team's coaching staff to confirm player/coach eligibility after any suspendable penalty. Any involvement with the team by a suspended player or coach will cause the offending team to forfeit the game(s) in which the above were used. The game will be shown as a 9-0 score for the non-offending team.


A Tournament Committee will hear protests. A $200 deposit, that will be returned if your protest is successful, must accompany all protests and disputes. A protest may only be heard if it is brought to the attention of the Tournament Chairperson or their delegate within thirty (30) minutes of completion of the game in question. A formal written submission can follow the initial notification. A hearing and ruling will be completed prior to the team's next scheduled game. No protest will be heard regarding a referee's decision.

All decisions made by the Tournament Committee, are Final.

All TEAMS must provide proof of  Player Eligibility prior to the first game.
Eligibility:
Only players on an approved Hockey Canada (CHA) or Hockey USA roster will be permitted to play.   Affiliated players must be on an approved affiliated player roster.

A maximum of nineteen (19) players may participate in any one game. However, a total of twenty-one (21) players may be registered (three (3) of which may be goalies) and substituted from game to game.

There shall be a maximum of five (5) team officials registered to any team. Only five (5) may go on the bench.   Only coaches who are on a teams approved roster or approved at-large roster will be allowed on the bench.  In the event of one team missing a trainer, the opposing team’s trainer will be asked to serve as trainer for both teams as per the Hockey Trainer’s code of ethics.

Travel Permit:
All teams must obtain a permission to play from their home centre.

All players must be approved on roster including AP players

4 team divisons

Round Robin –  cross over semis, winners play in the finals

5 team divisons

Round Robin – top 2 teams play in the finals

6 team divisons

3 team divisions play cross-over Bottom 2 play consolation game, top four play in semis

7 team divisons

4 round robin games for each team Top 2 teams play in the finals

8 team divisons

2 pools of 4 in Round Robin Top 2 teams in each pool move on to semis
