Minor Atom AE takes home Silver at the Canadian Tire Classic in Barrie.

With a tough first loss 3-2 to the host team Barrie Colts, the Minor Atom AE team were determined to make it to Sundays finals.

Finishing off the round robin with three straight wins against the Stouffville Clippers, Milton Winterhawks and the Richmond Hill Stars the stage was set for Sundays semi finals against the Kitchener Rangers.

Trailing 3-2 with less then a minute to go and with two players in the box for the Rangers, the Thunder pulled their goalie to make it 6 on 4. With only 7 seconds left in the game, Curtis scored and to tie the game. Here comes overtime.

The 10 minute overtime ended with the score still tied 3-3. Moving on to a 3 minute 4 on 4 OT period that also finished with the score still tied 3-3. In the sixth period, another 3 minute OT now 3 on 3, the Rangers were awarded a penalty shot for a tripping call. Everyone was holding their breath as the Ranger player lined up to take the shot. He skated down the ice and let one fly wide of the net, elimination was avoided. On the next play the Thunder were moving the puck down the boards when the Rangers were called for a penalty which resulted in the Thunder being awarded a penalty shot. Brady lined up at centre ice, he started skating in and took a shot. The puck was in the net and the Thunder had won the game!!!!

The Finals were all set. A rematch of the first game versus the host team Barrie Colts. After taking the lead early, the Colts tied the game to force overtime. About half way through OT the Colts scored to win the game 2-1.

Halton Hills Thunder were Silver Medal finalists. Congratulations to the team for all their hard work all weekend long. That was a lot of hockey!
