Thunder made it close in Caledon.
Sunny Acre Farms Midget goaltender Spencer McPherson was magnificent Friday night in Caledon stopping 37 of Caledon's 40 shots. The Thunder had a 2-0 lead midway through the second period and were gaining confidence against the defending champs.
Jeremy Roach opened the scoring after taking a sick feed from Steven Ienciu at the blueline he went in alone on the Hawk goalie and undressed him, five hole, 1-0 after the first. Then after some great work on the boards by Billy Taylor he tossed a saucer through to Gavin "bar down" Thomson, on the breakaway, he made no mistake, 2-0 Halton Hills.

Caledon finally cracked McPhersons armour late in the second as a Caledon foreward jumped on a loose puck and walked out alone in front, then late in the period a perfect shot off the post and in, tied the game at 2-2 heading to the third.
Halton Hills should have been happy with a 2-2 tie heading to the third against the No 1 ranked team in the province, but players were frustrated after losing the 2-0 lead. The third period saw 10 minutes of Thunder penalties be too much to handle. The penalty killers, and McPherson were up to the task only surrendering 1, but with the goalie out Caledon scored into the empty net, final score 4-2 Hawks.

Game 2 is Monday night at Alcott, 9:00pm
