Molinaro scores both as Thunder earn Tie!
The Sunny Acre Farms Midgets started their Omha Playdowns last night in Caledon with a 2-2 tie. After a scoreless first period Chase Pries won a race for the puck and centered to Nick Molinaro who deflected the puck past the Caledon goalie to give The Thunder the 1-0 lead at the intermission. Caledon tied the game early in the third scoring on a 2 on 1 with a cross ice pass which Thunder netminder Zach Moulton had no chance on. Two minutes later a Caledon foreward drove the net and roofed a backhander to give the Hawks the the 2-1 lead.
With time running out and Halton Hills pressing Mitchell Tickner took a point shot through a screen in front and Molinaro buried a rebound to tie the game 2-2.
The Thunder kept pressing til the end of the period and the first playoff game of the series was heading to overtime.
In ot both teams had chances but both goalies were equal to the task. The 10 minute sudden victory period finished and the game ended 2-2.
The Thunder don't play again until next Monday when the host the Niagara Falls Flyers 9:00 pm Alcott.
