Taylor scores OT winner; Thunder wins game 1
Sunny Acre farms foreward Dean Taylor scored the overtime winner as the Halton Hills Thunder win game 1 of their semi final series with the Caledon Hawks. Halton Hills went up 1-0 midway through the first on Chase Pries' powerplay goal. Caledon tied the game at one and took the lead on the powerplay midway through the second . Drew Hillock tied the game overpowering the Caledon keeper with a shot high glove and Mat Simpson gave the Thunder the 3-2 lead heading to the intermission. With 6 minutes to play in the third Taylor scored his first after beating the defence wide he burried a wrist shot high glove. After Halton Hills took a penalty with three minutes to play Caledon scored with six attackers to make it a one goal game and then tied it in the final minute to send it to overtime.
Three minutes into overtime Taylor batted the puck out of the air for the game winner. Goaltender Travis Green who left the game with an injury late in the 2nd returned in the third and made some key saves late to earn the overtime victory. The game was Sunny Acres first game in three weeks, the team showed some rust but battled hard in the victory. Game 2 in the best of 5 goes Thursday night in Caledon.
