Minor Atom A Thunder Off To A Great Start!
The McNally Limited Minor Atom A Halton Hills Thunder enjoyed a successful first tournament of the season this past weekend. The team travelled to Niagara Falls and St. Catharines to participate in the Garden City Early Bird Tournament.
Through the four games played the team began to reveal itself, exhibiting some of the traits we may see throughout the season ahead:
* WORK ETHIC. The team displayed a willingness to battle to the end of each game. Consider a near comeback from a 4-0 deficit in game 2 that had the parents jumping out of their seats; a near comeback during the 3rd game on the same day; and winning game 4 by scoring a goal with under 10 seconds remaining.
* TEAMWORK. Finishing the tournament (and two exhibition games) with every player registering at least one point, and both goalies registering a win. Supporting each other both on and off the ice. Being proud to be the first Minor Atom A team to wear the Thunder jersey.
* COMRADERIE. Singing AC/DC following big wins... and hard-fought losses. A willingness to share valuable iPad time during team lunch. Strategizing over the best ways to launch a patty whack attack on Coach Brian's birthday!
The tournament ended with the team finished tied for second during the round robin. But more importantly, the team showed that there are many more hard-fought games and fun days ahead!
